During the last couple month I had the chance to take NAUI's Intro to Tech course from Harvey at Louisbourg Scuba. Although Harvey and I are sharing several hundred dives together I learnt a lot. Instead off just checking off the required skills as well as the classroom part for the course, Harvey takes his time and is enthusiastically trying to make each individual a much better and safer diver. With Buddy Awareness in mind, the students will get plenty of time to fine tune their existing skills as well as to learn many useful new skills. Any new skills are demonstrated in a very clear and logical way. Since the classes are kept small, the participating diver gets plenty of time to practice in front of the video camera. By using the video camera, the students also get the chance to see first hand how they improved and which skills need some more fine tuning. If you are looking for a cheap and fast course to get your certification, he is certainly the wrong guy to contact. If you are interested in taking your diving to a new personal level in an exciting and safe environment under exceptional guidance, Harvey courses are worth every minute and every Dollar.
Michael Harvey was the instructor for my Trimix 2 course. I could not have asked for a better instructor. He has a calm and laid back style of teaching. This non-confrontational type of teaching lends itself to increased and continued questioning/learning. At the same time he makes it very clear when you have made mistakes and how to correct them. He spent five days with us introducing and correcting the new skills and drills. We started at 08:00 every morning and often went past midnight trying to get all the material/skills in. I learned a lot from Harvey and would happily take courses again from him in the future. Since my course I have continued to correspond with Harvey and ask for advice on various topics. He is always willing to offer advice and mentorship. I look forward to when he is back up here in Upper Canada so we can dive together again.
Sean Moritz You will be prepared! Only words? Perhaps...but certainly not in this case. You will be prepared once you have trained with Harvey Morash. You will be prepared to learn, to excel in future training, to evaluate both yourself and your diving and to train yourself to be objective oriented rather than goal oriented. I had the fortunate opportunity to train with Harvey for NAUI’s Introduction to Technical Diving course. I must say that this course was the most intense and easily the most exiting course that I have taken to date. I learned quickly that a new mindset of what was ‘acceptable’ had to be adopted immediately in order to succeed. Be prepared to explore new skills, techniques and mindset that will serve to develop new and exciting ways of being prepared and developing your diving skill set. Harvey’s training style was exemplary and second to none. He was able to communicate and instruct divers of differing backgrounds and skill levels with no issue at all. His training expectations were well communicated prior to taking the course and his course was well structured both in and out of the class. Harvey will push you to do your best.....he will PREPARE you. Kevin Steeves NAUI: 48747 |
I have been diving since 1993 and have taken other courses along the way, such as master diver and rescue diver. This year I decided to take a nitrox course through Louisbourg Scuba with attending instructor Harvey Morash. It was a very comforting experience when you realize that the instructor was passing along his passion and knowledge that he has compounded over the years for pleasure and not for commercial value. Harvey has such a vast knowledge of the various aspects of scuba diving and takes his time ensuring his students have all the knowledge needed to start their own pathways within the underwater world. Weather its your very first course or starting down the road to a career in diving I think Harvey will ensure you have all the basic you need as well as much knowledge and experience any instructor could offer.
Brian MacCormack I started diving in 1994 when I was 15 years old. In my early twenties I kind of forgot about diving. Then, about two years ago, I met this girl who was newly certified and diving was my " in". We ended up going diving a few times and I realized what I'd been missing for the last 8 years. By the end of the following summer we had about 40 dives in together and were taking an advanced course. The day we were doing our checkouts she introduced me to Harvey who happened to be diving the same site. I'll never forget his enthusiasm that day before we got in the water. After both dives I remember hearing him talking about how much fun he had and what he'd seen. I got to know Harvey over the next few months and realized how passionate he was about diving, and how much respect he has for it. He was always willing to talk to me about diving and answer any questions that I had. So, this winter we took our Nitrox course with Harvey. His knowledge is incredible. He made the classroom enjoyable, which is huge for me as I usually struggle with that part. I would recommend Harvey to anyone as an instructor, and I guarantee, by the end of the course you'll understand diving better than you ever have. Thank you Harvey for the exceptional and professional job you did with our course, I can't wait for the next one.
